Speaking and Listening

We have been writing speeches ready for a speaking and listening assessment. We practised writing speeches to become a Student Rep. Our opening statements reflected our opinions of Wattle Grove Primary School and the following paragraphs were demonstrating how we would demonstrate the school values and code of conduct. It is going to be very difficult to pick Student Reps next year, as all the speeches were outstanding.

Here are a couple for you to read:

Student Rep Report

Wattle Grove, what can I say? Our renowned standards is just one of the reasons why we were ‘Primary School Of The Year in 2015. Why else you ask? Well this school is where the teachers care and the pupils learn, but that’s not all, all the students here have been taught to show respect and kindness. Our motto here at Wattle Grove Primary School is ‘Give to Receive’. All of our students proudly follow that motto.

Wattle Grove Primary School needs Student Reps to keep things in place, the type of student reps we need are kind, caring, responsible, reliable and most importantly, respectful. As a Student Rep it would be my honour to follow all of these values, I will also give above 110%, I guarantee you. I want to be the person who people look up to, who follow and who aren’t scared to come up to me and ask for help. I will wear my badge with pride and develop my leadership skills as I go on. I would love to set the example to younger students so that they look forward to becoming a Student Rep and they already start to try their hardest ready for that. I don’t want them to worry about being a Student Rep, I want them to be confident and have a smile on their face when they get their badge. I’m 100% sure that I can do that. As I am in year 5 I have seen how other Student Reps have acted and now I can follow their excellent roles.
If everybody were to follow my example then this school will be even better, and as you can see it’s already an outstanding school. There will be a lot of Student Reps, so I have the opportunity to also build on my collaborative skills. I am looking forward to all the challenges ahead. Voting for me will be a very big advantage for this school. So make the right choice.
Thank you

STUTENT REP REPORT

Wattle Grove is a hard working community, full of
hardworking students, it’s not just the students, we have impeccable teachers too. So if you choose me for Student Rep I will be very responsible and I will maintain these high standards for as long as I’m Student Rep, making Wattle Grove a better place by helping anyone in need.
I don’t mind giving up my time to go to Student Rep meetings. Do you have a role model you can look up to? Well if you don’t, and I’m elected Student Rep, I will be your heroic role model. I am very responsible because every day I ride with my younger sister making sure she is safe. This is my 7th year at Wattle Grove so I know the rules and can teach them to new students who are lucky enough to come to our school. These kids might become Student Reps one day.
I have done a similar a job when I was in year 1, I was student councillor and I was super at it, so if I am Student Rep I’ll be 100% better than when I was a Student Councillor and that’s guaranteed. Wattle Grove won school of the year in 2015, and if I’m elected Student Rep I’ll make us win again because I have kindness, great listening skills I respect others, I care and that’s just to name a few of my good traits.
So I hope I have persuaded you to vote for me and remember, Wattle Grove is a hard working school and deserves hard working Student Reps and I’ll be one of those students. By Jamie

Student  Rep  Report

Wattle Grove Primary School is made from Kind, respectful, thoughtful students and staff, Student councillors and student reps are a kind, humorous and a hard working community with almost 100 new students enrolling every year. We have also achieved school of the year twice in 2014 and 2015.
Now let’s talk about me being a student rep. I will guarantee you respect, kindness and will make sure you don’t get injured or in trouble but certainly will have more to offer as that’s only some of the values I have said because if I kept on going I would run out of room. So pick me as your student rep if you really want to be looked after even though I’m a year five and have one whole year to wait I’m pretty sure I can be patient and wait for my turn.
So just remember what I said about the values and our school motto Give To Receive so when you get the chance to vote just think wisely before you choose who you are voting for as I will bring leadership to this school.  By Lincoln
