Learning Journeys

I would like to say a huge thank you to all the family members who came to experience the Room 9 Learning Journeys on Tuesday.
The children have been working extremely hard this year and it was marvellous to see the progress they had made.

The afternoon gave parents and grandparents the chance to view work, activities and projects the children had completed and to take part in practical mathematical and literacy games.

The children of Room 9 really appreciated everyone who were able to attend and celebrate their education. It really means a lot to them.

We hope you enjoyed the journey.

Journey Projects

I have been extremely impressed with the efforts of the children in Room 9 recently. They have been working in small groups over the last couple of weeks, researching a historical figure who made a journey. Neil Armstrong, Captain James Cook and Christopher Colombus were just a few of the people being studied.

They had to find out the history of the chosen person and describe the journey they had made.

They learnt many skills during this project, including collaborative skills, decision making and presenting their finished projects with their peers.

It was wonderful watching the children share ideas, roles and responsibilities and especially watching their confidence grow as they presented their work.

The whole class had great ideas and used their imagination to think of ways to present their work. The children really thought carefully about high standards.

Room 8 enjoyed coming to share our work too.

Congratulations to everyone for being dedicated and hard working throughout the whole experience.

Meet Owen's Chicks.

Last week Owen brought in 2 chicks from home. They were only 5 weeks old. He brought them to school to share with the class and tell us a little bit about how he takes care of them.

It was a great experience for us all to see these loveable creatures up close.

Owen had a request. He hadn't named his chicks so he asked for help from Room 9.

After reading 'The Twits' by Roald Dhal, the children voted on Mr and Mrs Tweet!

Owen was quite happy with this and took his pets home with their new names.

Date for your diary.

I look forward to seeing family members of room 9 at the Learning Journeys next Tuesday.
This will give the children the opportunity to show some of the fantastic work they have done and the work they have achieved over the last three terms.
The classroom will be open to all from 2pm until 3.30pm on this day.
The children have also been working in groups, creating projects to show the journeys made by historical figures. They would love to share this information with you.
I am sure you will enjoy the experience and appreciate the hard work and efforts made by the children.
Look forward to seeing you there.

Faction Carnival

Congratulations to everyone who took part in the Faction Carnival last Thursday. I am sure that we all agree that it was a huge success. The children and staff looked amazing in their faction colours. It was a spectacular day which was enjoyed by all.

The weather was amazing. Just what we had been waiting for.

This was my first Faction Carnival at Wattle Grove and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

Thank you to all the families who came out to support the children and school on the day. It was much appreciated.

A big congratulations to all those who won a ribbon on the day. You should be very proud of your achievements.

The most important thing was that we all had fun!

Congratulations to the Blue Team who came first on the day.

Come on you Blue's!

Well Done and Thank You to Mr Sherlock and Mrs Oliver for organising the events on the day. It was enjoyed by all.
