Christmas Around The World

Room 9 created power points sharing information about how Christmas is celebrated around the world. They presented their work today to the Year 1 class from Room 8. It was fantastic to learn how people celebrate Christmas in many parts of the world. Room 8 learnt a lot and listened carefully to all the facts shared. They were even able to answer all the questions at the end of the presentations.

Reindeer Biscuits

Room 9 enjoyed making chocolate reindeer biscuits today. We were getting into the spirit of Christmas. They are simple to make but very tasty.

Spread chocolate onto a plain biscuit.
Add pretzels as antlers.
Use chocolate buttons for eyes.
Add a white and red lolly for his nose.
Easy!

Try them yourself at home.

They look good and taste good too.
Merry Christmas.

Award Winners

Congratulations to all those who received a merit certificate on Friday during our final assembly.

Emma and Amy received the Merit Awards.

Joshua gained 100% on the Year Level Challenge. Avinash also gained 100% but unfortunately left Wattle Grove last week.

Joshua, Amro and Avinash all made it to the Top 5 for the Year 5 Year Level Challenge.
Well Done.

Room 9 will be having a Christmas Party next Wednesday 16th December, to celebrate the end of year. We are asking for all children to bring a plate of food. Boys to bring a plate of savoury and girls to bring a plate of sweet. We will be having games in the morning and the food in the afternoon. Thanks for your support.

Wattle Grove Presentation Night will be held next Tuesday 15th December. The venue is Camp Wattle Grove. Please read all notes carefully for times and information. Look forward to seeing you there.
Year 5 students will be performing to 'Grease'. They need to wear a white top, black pants , leggings or skirt and girls can wear a coloured scarf.
Year 6 costume information will follow soon.

Thank you

I would like to say thank you to all the Year 5 parents who  provided the wonderful buffet for the Year 6 Graduation last week. You did us proud. Everybody enjoyed it. Thank you also to those parents who helped with the decorations for the evening, the room looked beautiful. Photos of the Graduation Night will follow soon.

Graduation Lunch

The Year 6 students and teachers enjoyed a beautiful lunch at 'The Esplanade Hotel' in Fremantle on Monday afternoon. The venue was amazing and the food fantastic. What a great way to finish the year.

The students looked fantastic. They were all dressed to impress.

I was very proud of the Year 6 students, they demonstrated outstanding behaviour and manners.

Wish we could eat like this every day.

Student Reps

Whilst the Year 6 students were away at camp last week, the Year 5 students of Room 9 took over their roles for the week. They loved the responsibility of doing the flags, tidy bags and uniform checks. They completed their role as Student Rep on  Friday during Room 8's assembly.

They announced the Rep report and supported the Year 1's throughout their assembly. I think they will do very well as Year 6 Reps next year.

Persuasive Writing

Last Friday we went over to the Year 2 students in Miss McManara's class. A few weeks ago they came to visit us to gain some tips on persuasive writing. They have been working on their own writing over the last couple of weeks and were pleased to share their final results with us.

We enjoyed acting like teachers, reading their work and giving positive feedback. We think Year 2 did an amazing job. They had listened to lots of our advice to improve their work.

Games with our Buddies

Room 9 got together with their Kindy Buddies from Miss Ryan's class last Thursday.

Room 9 had designed and made games suitable for Kindy students. Some of the games taught them about colours, shapes, numbers and letters.

Both classes enjoyed playing the games together and had a lot of fun. We look forward to meeting up with our Buddies again soon.

Zoo Excursion

We promised you more of the wonderful photos from our Zoo excursion.

We saw many strange looking creatures.

We had a great time seeing the animals and the elephant show was a perfect end to the day.

We had lots of fun, including our teacher.

Perth Zoo Excursion

Room 9 enjoyed a perfect day at the Zoo on Wednesday along with Room 6.

There was so much to do and so many animals to see. We explored the wetlands and reptile centre first.

We saw some very interesting creatures.

We enjoyed an educational presentation about animals who are under threat. We took part in a fast game of survival. We even got to meet one of the local wildlife.

We wandered around the Zoo observing the habitats and enclosures. We were interested to see how well the animals are being treated.

We were pretty impressed. Most animals seemed happy and content with what they had.

Keep checking out our blog for more interesting information and photos of our Zoo excursion.
