Science projects

All students will be taking part in Science presentations during week 6. They will be demonstrating quick and interesting experiments to their peers and trying to explain the science behind it. We started today with an informative presentation from Tatiana all about sugar, followed by a quick demonstration showing what happens to sugar when mixed with water. This was followed by Serpphire who demonstrated how to make a lava lamp. I look forward to seeing many more exciting experiments during the week.

Literacy Pro

It has been really exciting to see Room 11 working hard towards gaining points for their Literacy Pro certificates. There is a new trophy which will be presented to the class who is reading the most words. This was presented to Room 17 on Friday who have read over 8 000 000 words between them. This really motivated Room 11, who are currently on just over
617 000 words. We have a long way to go, but are optimistic and know we can do it. Our goal is to reach our first 1 000 000 by the end of the week.
Congratulations to James who achieved 2 awards in assembly on Friday and well done to Daniel who has currently read the most words in the class, just over 132 000.
Keep reading everyone.

Class Dojo Points

Congratulations to Aaryan, Ali and Naznin for earning their next Dojo Award. Keep up the fantastic efforts in class.

VCOP

I have been amazed to see the high standard of work being produced by the students of Room 11. Some children have gone home and worked on their own power point presentations to teach the skills and concepts within Literacy and Numeracy. I have enjoyed watching them deliver their lesson and gain in confidence with their Listening and Speaking skills. I think we have a future of mini teachers ahead of us.

Week 2

Congratulations to Jalen who received an award for being 'Star of the Week'. He has been working hard within all his lessons and has been a wonderful member of the class.

I hope that all the Mums and Grandmas had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend. You all deserve a well earned break.

Term 2

Welcome back to the start of an exciting term. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. Thank you to all those students who worked hard on their Geography projects. I have certainly enjoyed watching the children present them confidently to the class.

Our first 'Student Of The Week' was James. Congratulations on all your hard work during your first week back.

The Year Level Challenge results from Term 1 were revealed during Friday's assembly. We are proud to announce that Halle and Aaryan both made it within the top five of all Year 4 students. Aaryan also received an award for gaining an outstanding 100%.

This term we will be looking for those students who make most progress. Good Luck.

We would like to welcome Miss Lupini to Room 11. Miss Lupini is a 2nd Year Student from Notre Dame and will be working with groups of children and teaching some Literacy and Maths during Term 2. We are extremely lucky to have her with us. We hope you come in to say hello.

Finally, please ensure your child is completing their homework and to a high standard. It is important that they present their work at home as they would in class. On a Monday they will receive spellings and an activity based on what is being covered in class. These are due in on Friday. Try to encourage your child to find the definitions of our challenge words and even use them within sentences. Many students are also working hard on Study Ladder activities and completing Literacy Pro Quizzes. Keep up the great work.

The theme for our Big Write this week is persuasive writing, based on 'Why my Mum deserves an award'. Start thinking of your ideas, reasons to support your arguments and wonderful describing words.

Enjoy the rest of your week.
