Congratulations to all those students who made catapults as part of a home project. They had to build a catapult of a specific size and dimensions. It needed to be able to shoot a ping pong ball through a small window from a distance of 3 metres.
They looked absolutely amazing.
It was wonderful to see a variety of materials being used. From wood to straws, pencils to paper.
We would also like to say a big thank you to any parents who supported their child during this difficult task.
There was a great deal of Maths and Science involved during this Design and Technology project and all the students who participated did an exceptional job.
The students enjoyed taking part in a competition last week to see who could get the ping pong ball through the window.
It required skill and patience.
The students also had to create a Coat of Arms and keep a journal of their project. This included designs, materials, information of how they made it and photographs to show the process.
The catapults and journals are now displayed in the wet area of Block 2. Please come and have a look.
All students who took part should be very proud of their achievements and I am impressed with the amount of time and effort they spent on their design.
Phil only just got his catapult through the door!
A big congratulations to Alyssa and Lucy who were the only two members of the class who managed to get the ball through the window.
