Welcome back

Welcome back to Term 3 2016. I can't believe we are half way through the year. I hope you all had a lovely holiday and are ready to work hard during Semester Two. It is going to be a very busy term. I hope Zander, Serpphire and Tatiana, who left us last term to go to new schools, have settled well and are enjoying their new adventures. We miss you here at Wattle Grove. We welcome Keegan who has joined us this week. We enjoyed an action packed assembly this morning. Congratulations to Jesse and Latiesha who were voted as our new Class Councillors for Semester Two. I know they will do a wonderful job.

I was so proud of Jin-Ai who made it in the top 5 most improved in the Year Level Challenge from Term 2. She should be very pleased with her achievements. Aaryan was the only student in Year 4 to gain 100%. Good job!

Keep working hard. It has been wonderful to see students already taking part in Literacy Pro quizzes and Study Ladder activities.

We are focusing on telling the time in Maths at the moment . Please encourage your child in this area at home. Time is an activity you can work on every day at home.

If it is 10 past 9, how would you write this in digital time am and pm?

What time would it be 2 and a half hours later?

End of Term

I can't believe we have come to the end of Term 2 already. The time seems to have flown by. It has been an extremely busy term and I am so proud of all the students. They have achieved a great deal. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to 4 very important people from Room 11 today. Firstly we would like to say a huge thank you and good luck to Miss Lupini. Miss Lupini has been working in our class all term. She will make an amazing teacher in the future. We certainly hope she will come back soon to see us.

Zander is leaving for Darwin this weekend. We wish him and his family all the best for their wonderful new life. Finally we would like to say goodbye and good luck to Serpphire and Tatiana who are moving to schools closer to home. They are all incredible children who will be missed by all of Room 11. All the best for the future.

Thank yo so much to all the families who sent food in today for our class party. There was so much! There was a fantastic selection. We all had a wonderful time at our party, it was a good way to say farewell and happy holidays.

I hope everyone has an amazing break and I look forward to working with you all again next term. Thank you for all your support this semester. Remember to keep reading and trying your Literacy Pro quizzes. See you back at school on Tuesday 19th July.
Have a happy and safe holiday.

Assembly

Congratulations to Room 11 and Room 24 for a fantastic assembly last Thursday. It was wonderful to see the students perform a selection of poems written by Ken Nesbitt. There were some great poems about taking a selfie, playing Minecraft, a teacher taking the student's i-Phone and even one about a Deputy who was a Zombie. The children spoke clearly and entertained everyone. The students even wrote their own poems in the same style as Ken Nesbitt. You were all amazing.

Thank you to Miss Lupini for all your help with the poems and the WOW board and to Mrs Fogerty for making the superb props.

Perth Zoo Excursion

Room 11 enjoyed a great day out at Perth Zoo last Wednesday. We thought it was going to be a wet and miserable day but as soon as we arrived, the rain stopped and the sunshine came out. The day couldn't have been better. Room 24 came along with us too. Thank you to all the people who came to support us on the day. Hope you enjoy the photos.

What a strange looking bunch of animals!

P & C Sausage Sizzle

Thank you to the P & C for their hard work on Saturday holding the Sausage Sizzle at Bunnings in Maddington. It was wonderful to see so many parents, students and staff supporting Wattle Grove PS. Thank you for giving up your Saturday to help raise funds for the school. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. My daughters certainly enjoyed their two hot dogs each!

Star of the Week

Congratulations Latiesha for working hard and being an outstanding role model last week. You deserve the 'Star of the Week' award.
